Frequently Asked Questions

  • Harbor Within Psychiatric Services is a private practice founded by two board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioners dedicated to providing thoughtful, individualized mental health care.

We believe that medication management is just one piece of the puzzle. Our approach focuses on understanding the whole person—your experiences, goals, and challenges—so we can create a treatment plan that truly fits your life.

We strive to create a supportive, collaborative environment where patients feel heard, respected, and empowered in their care.

  • We provide comprehensive psychiatric care for adults, including:

    • Psychiatric evaluations

    • Medication management

    • Supportive therapy during follow-up visits

We treat a range of conditions, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma-related disorders, bipolar disorder, and more.

We also believe strongly in a team-based approach. When appropriate, we collaborate with therapists and can connect you with trusted providers in the community to support your care beyond medication management.

  • Yes, we accept the following major insurance plans:

    • Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield

    • Capital Blue Cross

    • Independence Blue Cross

    • Geisinger

    • Aetna

    • UnitedHealthcare

    • Carelon Behavioral Health

    • Quest Behavioral health

    • Cigna

If you plan to use insurance, our billing partner will verify your benefits and provide an estimate of your coverage and any out-of-pocket costs prior to your appointment.

For patients who prefer not to use insurance, we also offer self-pay options:

    • Initial psychiatric evaluation: $200

    • Follow-up appointments: $125

If you’re unsure about your coverage or costs, feel free to reach out—we’re happy to help you understand your options.

  • We provide supportive therapy as part of medication management visits, but we do not offer ongoing, dedicated psychotherapy.

Because therapy is such an important part of treatment, we’ve built strong relationships with therapists in the community and are happy to connect you with someone who is a great fit for your needs.

We also love collaborating with therapists and frequently work together (with your consent) to support your care from multiple angles.

  • We do not offer neuropsychological evaluations.

Neuropsychological testing involves in-depth, multiple hour long cognitive assessments to evaluate things like memory, attention, learning differences, autism spectrum disorder, or brain-related conditions such as dementia or head injury.

Our practice focuses on psychiatric evaluations and medication management, which involve understanding your symptoms, making a diagnosis, and creating a personalized treatment plan for conditions like anxiety, depression, ADHD, and more.

If you’re not sure which type of evaluation is right for you, feel free to reach out—we’re happy to point you in the right direction.
